Description

A pre ACCESS1.0 version of the UM 7.3 changed from N96 to N48 resolution. The SST is simulated with a slab ocean over all open ocean points and additionally in the tropical Pacific with the Recharge Oscillator toy model. This is designed to do long (many years) global climate simulations.

History

A pre ACCESS1.0 version of the UM 7.3 changed from N96 to N48 resolution. Additionally the slab ocean and the tropical Pacific with the Recharge Oscillator toy model equations are included in the UM-code to simulate the SST and thermocline depth in the tropical Pacific.

Use Cases

This is designed to do long (many years) global climate simulations. In open ocean points it simulated SST variability with a slab ocean with a 50m depth and in the tropical Pacific with the Recharge Oscillator toy model to simulate ENSO like variability. A mask can be used to hold the SST at desired regions at prescribed values.

Modules of the Experiment

Atmosphere UM 7.3
Land Surface MOSES
Ocean Slab Ocean over all open ocean points and the tropical Pacific with the Recharge Oscillator toy model with a mask for prescribing SST at desired locations
Sea Ice Prescribed

Performance

On NCI-RAIJIN it computes about (slightly more than) 1yr per 1hr CPU time with 48 processors.
